A Saviour’s love for us…
by Rebekah Marshall

The cross beams on that cross,
shaped to take a mans weight
Blood stains on that cross,
Tell the story of a death once died.

Blood poured slowly out,
Down a man’s brow,
Thorns in his head,
A fresh wound in his side,
The nails piercing his hands and feet.

Cruel lashings of the whip,
Villagers stood all the while,
Mockers taunting him,
Saying things not fit to be told.

Yet he stood, head bowed,
Tears of love and sadness,
A voice unaccusing,
A cry for their forgiveness,
They with no real knowledge,
Of their wrong.

Hanging on that cross,
Tears flowing freely now,
The heartbeat of love,
Growing stronger,
Accepting love, undying love,
Love true and strong.

Everlasting forgiveness,
Through all that he passed,
Separation from his father,
In the darkness of sin.

In the darkness of the hour,
Love had a way,
Triumph was gained,
New life three days later,
New life today,
Love has a way.

The shoulders of that man,
Shaped to take a sins weight,
Scars on that man,
Tell the story of a love so strong,
It burns today.

A Saviour’s love for me,
A Saviour’s love for you,
A Saviour’s love for us.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
