Because we live in the forest, it is sometimes challenging to grow plants and vegetables.
Last year, we ordered a load of dirt, and for much of the summer a small pile remained
at the side of our property.
Two turkeys would come and take their afternoon snooze in the pile of dirt, and they were
fun to watch.
This spring, I leveled what was left of the dirt pile and decided to plant some beans
and corn, to see it we could have a harvest, without the animals devouring them.
To keep the deer away, I made 4 little teepees out of sticks; with beads and bells hanging down
to dissuade them from eating the vegetables.
The other day, when I returned from my walk in the woods, a mother turkey and 7 babies had just
come into the yard.
At first I thought they were cute, but Momma turkey went right for my beans and began to rip them out
and kick dirt around. Her babies followed her lead, and I had to shoo them out of the garden.
Evidently she remembered the dirt pile and wanted a place to take her children for a nap, but I had ruined her plans.
She and her children were very persistent. My husband and I spent the rest of the afternoon shooing her
and the babies away from the plants.
I replanted the beans she uprooted, and God miraculously has made them regrow again.
This reminded me of the parable Jesus taught in Matthew 13.
He is the sower and sows the word of God into our heart as we read his word.
The Bible says…
Matthew 13:4 NKJV
And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
Matthew 13:19
When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it,
then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.
This is he who received seed by the wayside.
Often there may be things that we are not able to comprehend right away fully
as we read or hear God’s word.
Satan doesn’t want us to meditate on the word or pray about the interpretation, so
he immediately attacks with people or circumstances like our turkeys… to uproot
the words and upset us.
He keeps pestering and agitating us, until we loose our cool and then feel
depressed and discouraged by our lack of self control or bad behavior.
For the rest of the day, we have to fight off thoughts of guilt and condemnation;
if we don’t immediately recognize this plot of attack and replant the words into
our heart by meditating on God’s word or quoting scripture.
Today you may be facing an attack of the enemy and are about ready to blow a fuse.
Beloved, God sent me to warn and encourage you.
He loves you and doesn’t want you to waste your time worrying and being fearful about
the future.
He loved you so much that he sent his Son Jesus to die for your sins, and he holds all
power in heaven and in earth.
Call out to Jesus and replant his beautiful words of hope and healing into your heart.
Pray for strength so you will not be stressed or fret about the agitations of life.
If he is for you, no one can stand against you.
The Bible says…
Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Ecclesiastes 11:6
In the morning sow your seed, And in the evening do not withhold your hand;
For you do not know which will prosper, Either this or that, Or whether both alike will be good.
Take a spiritual break right now and ask him to water the seeds he has sown and make them grow
into a power faith; that cannot be uprooted by any plot satan or the world brings.
King David told us to taste and see that the LORD is good. If we meditate on God’s word…
Psalm 1:3
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
I come to the garden alone in the ‘morn.
To watch the sunrise, as a new day is born.
Talking with Jesus, about the new day.
Helps me view life, in a positive way.
For in viewing the beautiful flowers and trees…
I can sort out my life and plant some new seeds.
Seeds that will grow, into godly behavior…
By using the example of my Lord and Savior.
He’ll water my seeds of hope, with his love…
And warm me with sunshine, from heaven above.
I thank God for harvesting blessings to me.
By abundantly supplying, all of my needs.
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one:
and every man shall receive his own reward according
to his own labor. 1 Corinthians 3:8 KJV
