God never ceases to amaze me on how he show us areas in our life that need
a heart or attitude adjustment.
From the time of our birth, until the day we die, he will allow certain circumstances
in our day, to teach us to walk in the fruit of the spirit.
The Bible says…James 1:3
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Thursday, I spent the day cleaning the house and was growing weary
from my labours.
Because we have a dirt driveway, we need to continually vacuum up
sand and gravel from the garage, or it ends up getting tracked back into
the house.
I’d just put the last load of laundry in the dryer, and went out to clean up the garage.
When I finished, and opened up the door to the laundry room, I was shocked to see
fuzz balls and dirt all over the floor and the top of the washer and dryer.
As I looked closer, I saw that the tape on the dryer vent had let loose, and was no longer
venting the dust outside, but all over the clean house.
My husband had also had a very hard day, so I cleaned up the mess, and chose not to
tell him about our problem until the next day when we were both more rested and able
to handle the repair.
I felt God telling me to hurry and clean up, and it’s a good thing I did, because within
15 minutes, company was at the door.
Again, I had to choose not to vent all my frustrations on our visitors, but rather listen
to their troubles. My friend had just had surgery a little over a week ago
and she needed a little comfort and encouragement.
The next morning, after we were rested and I had my time alone with God, I decided
to let my husband know we had a project that needed our attention.
He got dressed and went to the hardware store to get the parts for our project repair.
Because our laundry room is small, when he tried to get down behind the washer and
dryer, I could see it was not something that was easy for him to do.
I offered to crawl back behind the dryer, and asked him to show me what needed to be
done.
I kept praying for God to give me patience and kept telling my husband how appreciative
I was of him for being patient with me, with my limited training in dryer repair.
God reminded me of the many times I’d had to assist my father in home repairs, and was thankful
that he taught me the value of hard work and the need to work together in harmony.
With God’s help, prayer, and the two of us working together, within a couple of hours, our
dryer was repaired.
God created men and women different to compliment and help one another.
When thing go wrong, we must learn to use God’s word as a manual to help us
cope with life’s trials and tests.
Patience is a fruit of the spirit that we all need to grow in, so we don’t
whine and complain like little children, every time we don’t get our way.
Our society is filled with angry and bitter people who never grew up,
and think it’s cool and all right to vent and spill out anger and dirt
upon everyone who upsets them.
They have never been instructed in God’s word, and don’t realize that
God wants us to grow up and be mature people who are peacemakers
instead of troublemakers.
The Bible says…
Proverbs 17:3
… the LORD tests the heart.
Satan wants to stir up strife in our homes, workplace, and school, so when trouble
comes, we must remember…
Proverbs 15:1
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
When trouble comes, and it will, stop what you’re doing and pray first.
Ask God to help you control your temper and walk in wisdom.
Don’t throw a fit or vent your angry emotions all over everyone else.
The Bible says…
Proverbs 15:18
A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
If you’re exhausted, wait until you rest and eat before dealing with your problems.
Proverbs 16:32 says…
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Ecclesiastes 7:9
Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
We are foolish to think we can handle the pressures of life on our own.
We are created by God, in his image, and he alone can help us to overcome the
struggles and trials we face each day.
Lately we’ve seen an increase in people texting, blogging, picketing, and protesting.
We must choose to use our words wisely and not stir up a spirit of anger and bitterness
in each other.
God’s word says…
Colossians 3:8
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Jesus told us that peacemakers are blessed, and it is our right and responsibility to help others see how
amazing life can be, if we use God’s word as a weapon to stop the anger and hatred in our world.
Beloved, has someone vented their dirt and anger all over your house and upset you?
God sent me to encourage you and help you find peace.
He loves you and He alone can fill the hole in your heart and help you solve every battle you’re facing.
The Bible says in Ephesians 4 …Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Neither give place to the devil.
Refuse to give the devil a place in your home or heart. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!
Ephesians 4:31-32
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Father, we love you and thank you for giving us your word to teach us how to vent wisely and live in peace.
Calm our hearts and restore peace and love into our homes and world. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen
A HAVEN FREE FROM SIN
I love to watch the sunrise…
Beyond the lake so blue.
And thank you for another day…
To spend some time with you.
In the stillness of the morning.
I meditate and pray.
That you will give me strength to face…
Whatever comes my way.
Your word gives life such meaning…
Peace and joy within.
A calm, the world can’t understand…
A haven free from sin.
Take a break from worldly views…
and exercise your mind.
God’s word will feed and nourish you…
With food of lasting kind.
Jesus is our answer…
In a world filled with despair.
He’ll gladly help us carry…
Our burdens and our cares.
Your sister and servant of the LORD,
Valerie Rousseau
