Sitting in the middle of a dirt road
Ghost trees look over top of me
No light to be seen
Jeans are torn
Shirt is ripped
Bruises and aching all over my body
Eyes sore from crying
Face is dirty
From the makeup
And the guilt and the shame
From the things I’ve done in the past
My jeans are ripped
And my shirt is torn
For the fighting I’ve done
To keep on surviving
Bruises are on my body
Representing the hurt and the pain
I’ve been going through
I wish everything was back to normal
I wish I was back to the way I used to be
When I would walk beside you
But now I’m walking away from you
I’ve been fighting to get back to you
I’ve been through so much pain
To feel your touch again
To feel the warmth
Of you holding me in your arms
Letting me know that you love me
And care for me
And will always keep me safe
I’m starting to see the light down the tunnel
I want to get to it
I’m trying to reach for it
I’m fighting to get to it
But never can
That’s why the bruises
I can barely walk
The guilt and the shame
Is pushing down on my shoulders
My feet start to get heavy
I can’t walk
I can’t run
My voice is gone
I can’t scream out for you
Tears start to fall
Like mini waterfalls
I look to the heavens
Whispering‚ hoping you hear me
“Where are you? I need you right now!”
“Why did you leave me?”
“Where were you when I needed you the most?”
My tears kept coming
My breathing getting heavier
Suddenly a calm whisper in my ear says
“I have never left you. I am always with you”
I opened my eyes and looked up
No bruises‚ no tears
No torn jeans‚ No ripped shirt
My pain and burdens were gone
Standing in front of me
Was a man dressed in white
He helped me up
Wrapped me in his arms and whispered
“I will never leave you my child
I will and have always loved you.”
