Be not weary in well doing-Go the extra mile with a smile

The Bible is God’s beautiful instruction book; to help us lead a life filled with
peace, even when things around us don’t always seem fair or fun.
Sometimes we may live in a hostile environment, or the government
will pass laws asking us to do things that make us angry or bitter.
In Matthew 5:41 Jesus give us this advise…
And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
During the time of Jesus, the government had made a law that
Roman citizens could go up to anyone at any time who was a Jew
and require them to carry their stuff for exactly one mile.
The Jews didn’t like this law, understandably and would become
bitter and resentful any time they were treated unfairly like a slave.
Jesus didn’t encourage people to protest or picket the government
or those in authority over them.
He not only wanted them to obey the law willingly, but asked them
to offer to go 2 miles instead of just one.
This would shock the person to wonder what was different about
them, and perhaps open a door for them to share the message
of the Gospel.
In our daily life we can practically apply this method of service
and submission to bring peace to our homes, schools, or
churches.
Young people, if your parents ask you to clean up your room,
do it with a glad and respectful attitude. Go the extra mile,
by doing something in addition to what they asked…
like take out the garbage, vacuum the living room,
or do the dishes.
Men, you are to be the leaders in your home, by example…
so do something special and unexpected for your wife
or children….in addition to what you’ve been asked
to do.
Wives and mothers, likewise…Go the extra mile by
making special meals and keeping a neat home.
Pick up those dirty socks your husband left of
the floor for the hundredth time… without
grumbling or making an issue of it.
At work, don’t just do what your boss has asked, but
offer to do something extra, to let the light of Jesus
shine brightly to them and your co-workers.
Jesus went on to say…Love your enemies, bless them that curse you,
do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you,
and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:44-45
Beloved whatever you’re facing today, do it with a glad and thankful heart.
Ask God to show you ways to let your light shine and lead souls to faith in Jesus.
Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good!
Go the extra mile, with a smile!
Father we thank you for your word to help us to resolve problems and
conflicts with friends, family, co-workers, and even our enemies.
Forgive us for grumbling and faultfinding when we’re asked to do
things for others. Replace the bitterness in our hearts with attitudes
of gratitude. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
In His Almighty name we pray.
Amen
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall
be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9
