Boyfriend- obsession…by Nadia Cooper

Well all of us who have had a boyfriend or have one at the moment know that they become a really big part of our lives. Sometimes our boyfriends even become a bigger part of us than God. It’s wrong to let that happen.
Well first of all I’ll tell you all about my experience and all. Well my bf Matt and I have liked each other for about 3 years.. we basically only started being bf/gf 2 years ago. I must say it hasn’t been the easiest relationship. We’ve broken up twice and we’re back together now. There’s a problem though‚ he has moved away for 1 year because his parents had to move. He’ll be back in June though. Well I’ve been having the hardest time handling all my emotions because we can’t call each other or anything but we can chat on msn or email. But he isn’t allowed to get on the computer that often so that makes it even harder.
But anyway‚ the point is that he has become like an obsession to me. I think about him constantly. Sometimes I don’t even realize it. God tells us to focus on Him and Him alone. But just like that‚ sadness can also take over our lives. Some person once told me "For ever moment of sadness there will be a moment of joy." That quote has gotten me through many tough days. Just knowing that the happiness and joy of God will come.
Also‚ if you are dealing with heartache from either a breakup with a boyfriend/girlfriend then you need to deal with it. God doesn’t want you to be sad all of your life. He wants us to be happy. But he also wants us to glorify Him and love him with all our hearts. Another person said to me "Heartache pushed aside delays the healing process. Heartache held tightly extends the pain." That is so true. All of us always hold onto our pain when we are mad or sad or upset or disappointed at someone we love dearly. Just remember that even when you’re in doubt there will always be someone who loves you no matter what. Someone in your class‚ in your school‚ or anywhere might love you more than you think.
Life gets tough. There will always be trials and especially when we start dating and loving guys as more than friends. Just remember to put God first. And remember that everything happens for a reason.
