The world is filled with angry people who like to spread their venomous poison into their
hearts and minds of others.
God in his love, left us the Bible to teach us how to stop the fighting and war in our homes,
schools, and nations.
The book of Proverbs is filled with wisdom to help us live in peace with one another.
Most of the verses have a statement on how to be wise and one regarding fools
or the wicked.
God’s word says…
Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21
Our words should be ones that build up and encourage other people.
Words of criticism, anger, or bitterness only breed hate and death into our
For years I suffered with stomach problems, headaches, and depression.
I would go to the doctor seeking a cure, but no prescriptions ever helped.
As I began to study God’s word, he began to reveal to me many things
that were causing my problems.
I had a lot of bitterness and unforgiveness in my heart towards people
who had hurt me in the past.
I would spend hours on the phone revealing hurtful remarks, and spreading gossip.
One day God showed me this scripture…
The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts
of the belly. Proverbs 26:22
A talebearer is a person who likes to spread gossip. God warns us that the words we
speak can hurt and wound another, but they also go into our belly and wound us.
We reap what we sow…so if we sow gossip and are unmerciful…we will reap
the same kind of anger and bitterness from others.
It’s a vicious cycle and causes our body to be weak and sick inside.
We can run to the doctor for tests, but they can’t heal the damage we’ve
done to others and ourselves.
The Bible says…A merciful man does good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubles
his own flesh. Proverbs 11:17
When your parents of spouse makes a mistake, are you merciful to them or do you always
vent angry words? If you are cruel and unforgiving, it will cause sickness and pain in your body.
Many try to drown the pain with pills, drugs, alcohol, cutting, or sex…but nothing
can heal a wounded soul except our loving Father and Creator.
How many marriages and families could be saved by following
the wisdom of God’s word.
Proverbs 20:3 says…
It is an honor for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
God will honor and bless the person who chooses to let the mistakes of others
slide…but fools will continually nag and start fights.
Proverbs 21:23 teaches…
Whoso keepeth his mouth and tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
In the world we will have trouble, but learning to keep our mouth
shut, can solve many problems in our life.
He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: but he that opens wide his lips
shall have destruction. Proverbs 13:3
Often we can change the atmosphere in our home or workplace by the tone of our voice.
The Bible says…A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Jesus said, blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called
the sons of God.
And the servant of the Lord must not strive: but be gentle unto all men…
2 Timothy 2:24
Perhaps today your home feels like the middle of a war zone.
I pray you will use take God’s advise and call off the fight.
Give the hurt and pain to Jesus and let him heal the wounds
and scars in your heart.
Forgive…and you will be forgiven.
Jesus said, blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
The Bible says…Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul,
and health to the bones. Proverbs 16:24
Follow our Savior’s example and sow seeds of love and forgiveness.
Jesus loves you so much he died for your sins on the cross at Calvary.
It grieves him to see his children gossiping, fighting, hating, and
killing one another.
Proverbs 20:22 warns us, not to seek vengeance…but wait on
the LORD and he will save you.
Jesus asks us to deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow him.
He was despised, rejected, mocked, and killed unjustly…yet he
opened not his mouth…except to ask his Father to forgive those
who betrayed him.
God commands us to love him with our whole heart, and love our
neighbor as ourselves.
By this will all men know we are his disciples…if we have
love one for another.
Forgive beloved…and begin the wonderful new life
Jesus died to give you!
Merciful Father in heaven,
Thank you for sharing with us the wonderful stories of scripture
to teach and warn us. Forgive us for speaking words of anger
and foolishness which often provoke fighting and pain.
I give you the anger and bitterness in my heart and ask
you to heal me from within. When I open my mouth,
fill it with your words of wisdom and love so I may
build up my brothers and sisters who are hurting.
Help me to be a peacemaker and a powerful witness
to give glory to your name.
Thank you for abundantly supplying all our needs and
always hearing and answering our prayers.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable to
you O Lord, my strength and redeemer.
Your sister and servant of the LORD,
