LITTLEHAMPTON, ENGLAND

(ANS) – As World Cup fever approaches this summer, Christians are being challenged to kick off their outreach plans by ordering copies of mini magazine Scorchio!

“I’m encouraging people to buy copies in bulk of this 36 page mini mag, which is jam packed with facts, figures, the lowdown on all 32 teams competing for the ultimate prize, but also amazing interviews with some of the world’s greatest footballers who know and love Jesus,” explains British evangelist Steve Legg, who produced this resource.

He added: “They can be given away as Father’s Day gifts or be used at special World Cup outreach events throughout June. Others have said that they want quantities to take into work, or to leave at the pub whilst games are shown on big screen TVs. It’s the easiest form of outreach in the world!”

Scorchio! includes expert opinion from TV football pundits Dan Walker and John Motson and chats to footballers about their Christian faith, including Rory Fallon, Steven Pienaar and Tim Howard, plus Spain’s Marcos Senna and an exclusive interview with Kaka.

“We know people will enjoy what they read, but more than that we want to challenge them to think a little more about faith and how relevant it can be to them,” explains Legg who is also editor of Christian men’s magazine Sorted.

“The great footballing guru, Bill Shankly, commented ‘Some people think football’s a matter of life and death. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.’ I have days when I’m inclined to agree with him. But I also hope that through the pages of Scorchio! people will realise that Christianity is like that, too.”

Legg concluded with an update on Sorted magazine, described as the lad’s mag with morals: “It continues to sell well. It is available in 1,500 high street newsagents across the UK and we are exploring having Sorted in larger branches of supermarket chain Tesco. Our March/April edition is available now and is another bumper read. It is jam packed with all the usual features plus Bill star, Andrew Lancel, Hollywood star Stephen Baldwin, Paul Azinger, The Soldiers, Rob Parsons and so much more.”

Scorchio! is available at the Sorted online shop –
www.sorted-magazine.com  – copies start at 99p (approx $1.50) each and go down dramatically the more you order. Ten Christian guys chipping in just £25 (approx $35) each would mean you’d get 500 copies.
