Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words,
that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth,
and that they may teach their children.
Deuteronomy 4:10
When sin entered into the hearts of man, God knew we would
need a book of instructions to help us through our tests and
struggles in life. It is called the Bible. Without reading God’s
word, a man or woman can be lead astray by false prophets
or people sent by Satan to deceive or entice them.
There are those who are continually opposing God and his commandments.
They think that God wants to deprive them of pleasure, but that is simply a lie
from the pit of hell.
God gave us a set of warnings and guidelines in the Bible. If we obey them
we receive blessings and favor. If we choose to rebel and ignore them,
we may enjoy a momentary pleasure, but afterward, heartache, pain,
depression, and sorrow.
Some are so overwhelmed by guilt and feeling dirty when they sin against
God, they try to drown the pain with drugs, pornography, alcohol, or become suicidal.
Today, I’d like to share with you some powerful insights from God’s word, which I hope
and pray will help many of you understand why the Bible is important and relevant in
today’s society.
The sixth commandment God gave us is….
You shall not commit adultery. Exodus 20:14
This means that we should fear and love God so much, that we
choose to lead a sexually pure and decent life in what we say, do,
and watch. Husbands and wives should love, honor and be
faithful to each other, as unto the LORD.
What God has joined together, let not man separate.
The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good,
your whole body will be full of light. Matthew 6:22
There is much evil in this world to entice us. We must be very careful what we
watch, read, or listen to, for it might lead us to sin. We must also be careful of
any friendships that may cause us to fall into temptation.
We honor God by choosing to not let our eyes look at things that would
cause us to have wrong thoughts. What we see, plants an impression in our mind.
The mind then begins to recall impure things and cause us to lust after them.
It then takes root in our heart, and begins to be a desire.
The Bible says…
Out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality…
God requires us to be clean in what we think and say.
The world and Satan would like to deceive us into thinking that
just watching or reading something impure is all right and no big deal.
Books and movies or television shows that have sexual
immorality, usually also have bad language and use God’s
name in a wrong and sinful way. Jesus wanted to make it so
clear to people about the way he thought that he said…
I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully
has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:28
God forbids sexual sins such as rape, homosexual activity, incest,
sexual child abuse, obscenity, sexual intercourse between unmarried
persons, and the use of pornographic materials.
Among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,
or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper
for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or
coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
Ephesians 5:3-4
God requires us to use our sexuality in ways that are pleasing to Him.
When a person becomes a Christian, they ask the Holy Spirit to
come into their heart. They accept and acknowledge Jesus has
paid the debt for their sins, and their bodies become united
with God as one.
Think of your body as a glass of water. It is pure and clean. If a bug or piece
of dirt goes into the glass, it is no longer pure or drinkable. Every speck of sin
that we allow to contaminate our body, makes it impure.
When sin enters into our lives, we are out of fellowship with our heavenly Father.
It is only when we repent and turn away from that sin, do we feel whole
and one with God again.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit,
who is in you, whom you have received from God?
You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
If God is part of you and lives in your body, He sees everything
you see. He hears what you hear. To choose to watch impure
things or listen to music or programming that uses cursing
and swearing dishonor’s God. To be involved in any sexual
activity outside of marriage, drives God out and lets Satan
rule in your life and in our world. With each step that man
takes toward Satan, God continues to lift his hand of protection
and blessing in our lives.
In Genesis 18 & 19 God was angry with the people of
Sodom and Gomorrah. They were living sexually immoral
lives and practicing idolatry. God was so enraged, He sent an angel
to destroy it.
God warned Lot and told him to take his wife
and 2 daughters out of the city before he consumed it with fire.
He told them to leave the city quickly and not look back.
Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah,
from the LORD out of the heavens. Genesis 19:23
Lot’s wife still longed for her old lifestyle and looked back.
God turned her body into a statue of salt.
In the morning the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of a furnace.
Only Lot and his 2 daughters were spared.
God also encourages us not to divorce except for marital unfaithfulness by
adultery and desertion.
Anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness,
and marries another woman commits adultery. Matthew 19:9
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for
God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
Hebrews 13:4
Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards,
nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
We all have some hidden sins, or past mistakes that we need God’s
grace and mercy for. We need the saving grace of Jesus’ blood
sacrifice to make us right and acceptable in God’s eyes.
When we accept Jesus as LORD and Savior, we are washed
and sanctified by Him. We are born again and God can begin
working in and through us, to make a new vessel that can
be used to give Him glory.
As we see the tragedy and devastation around us, let us
strive to live a life that is pleasing to him. Let us choose life, so
that the blessings and protection of the LORD may be upon us.
Today you may be living in sin or about to divorce your mate.
God loves you precious one and wants to help you.
Repent and ask Jesus to heal your broken
marriage and family.
If God is for you, no one can be against you.
God may have placed you in a difficult marriage to save your
spouse or children from going to hell.
To be a disciple of Jesus we are to deny ourselves daily
and take up our cross and follow him.
He can transform your mess into a miracle.
Trust him precious one.
There is nothing too hard for him.
Not one of his good promises has ever failed.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable,
if anything is excellent or praise-worth, think about such things.
Philippians 4:8
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this beautiful new day full of Your grace and mercy.
Thank You for Your love and protection over us. We have sinned
against You and committed adultery, in thought, word, and
deed. I humbly ask for Your mercy and forgiveness.
Help us to turn our eyes and ears from any programming, activity, friendship,
or reading material that would be offensive to You.
Quicken our hearts, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to know when we are
about to be deceived with something evil that would tempt us to sin
against You.
Heal the broken hearts and marriages, so our families will
be united in peace and love. Bind the powers of adultery,
fornication, incest, and homosexuality. Help us to
examine our lives and be holy, for you are holy.
We are strong through Your power and trust You to help
us overcome our sinful thoughts and desires. Through You,
we are more than conquers. We love You for being kind
and merciful to us. Thank You for the scriptures to show
us our mistakes.
Please turn the hearts of all leaders in the world to know
You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Bring to the minds and hearts of our leaders any
law or ordinance that runs counter to Your divine laws.
Protect and preserve the sanctity of marriage between
one man and one woman.
Please restore prayer to our schools, workplaces, homes,
and government. With You nothing is impossible. You have
told us that we fight and war, but we have not because we
do not ask. We come humbly to Your throne of grace and
ask for You to help, lead, and deliver us from our enemies
and from temptation and all evil.
Infuse your servants and all who are sick with your healing, strength, and peace.
You alone hold the power over life and death, sickness and health.
We are weak and heavy laden, but we come to You for rest
and restoration of our bodies and spirits.
Please open new opportunities for us to witness and share the
message of the Gospel and Salvation with others. We trust You
to fill us with words of wisdom and power that will draw hearts
to You. Thank You for sending Jesus to save us, so we may inherit
the free gift of eternal life.
May this message reach every lost soul in all nations of the world.
We believe in miracles, because we believe in Jesus.
