Stand Still To Hear The Lord’s Word For Others

Numbers 9:8

And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.

In Malachi 2:7, God says: “For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.”

As believers, we are a chosen generation – a royal priesthood. In time past, we were not a people, but are now the people of God.

Thank the Lord for Jesus, because through Him, we’re a peculiar people who’ve been chosen to show forth His praises.

We rejoice because we have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Therefore, as priests, our lips are to directed by the Holy Spirit, especially when we’re called upon to give truthful instructions to those who inquire of the Lord’s will for their lives. It’s so important to a loving Father that we get His divine oracles directly from Him for specific individuals which He sends to us. God loves each and every one of us with an unique love and it’s necessary that we respect His wisdom and will for each soul.

Many have asked us personal questions regarding their salvation or otherwise, and we’re to speak the Word which addresses every possible human situation, as led by the Holy Spirit.

Here, in the question of whether the priests could partake of the passover since they had become unclean by coming into contact with a dead body, Moses relied upon the Lord – not his own understanding. It’s a blessing to realize like he realized that only the Lord can direct individuals on matters which concern their relationship with Christ or with one another. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life!

Therefore, Moses instructed them to stand still. What wisdom! This most meek prophet who was faithful in all his house (Israel), let the questioning priests know that He couldn’t answer until the Lord spoke with him. This meekness of wisdom displayed here is why it’s written that the Lord spoke with Moses “face to face,” as a man unto his friend. He knew his place with God and the beloved people with whom He was entrusted. What an awesome responsibility he had, and yet it was his reliance upon the Lord’s graciousness that awarded him such respect.

My wisdom will show itself too, when I defer to answer those who have needs relevant to Jesus Christ and salvation, until I’ve gone to the Throne of Grace as their messenger. When I emulate Christ, the Great High Priest over us all, I’ll be able to speak the Truth of Jesus Christ – not anything from other sources. My hope is that iniquity will not be found in my lips. How I desire the Lord to continue to walk with me in peace and equity, so many will be turned away from iniquity, and find help in their time of need. Oh God! Thank You for our Lord and Saviour today!
