“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
Jeremiah 31:3
King James Version
I receive a lot of emails from people who tell me “You always seem to be happy even when you are going through difficult situations. What is your secret?” I don’t have a secret. The reason why I am happy is because that even in the midst of crises and heartaches I know that Jesus loves me. Every person in the world may stop loving me but He will always love me.
His love is not a fleeting love or a temporary love. It is a lasting love. He loves us as much today as He did yesterday and He will love us as much tomorrow as He does today. There is absolutely nothing that you can do that would make Him stop loving you. His love is an unconditional love and that is the way that He want us to love one another.
How did Jesus make it through all the heartaches, ridicule, criticism and rejection He endured while He was here on earth? He couldn’t have done it in His own strength because He was human just like and I are human. It was because He knew that His Father loved Him.
Love, unconditional love, is the answer to all of our problems and heartaches. If we will love each other unconditionally as Jesus has commanded us to love one another, we won’t have so many problems and heartaches. Jesus won’t make us love each other. Each one of us must decide on purpose to love others as Jesus loves us.
Do you love your family and friends the way Jesus has commanded you to love them? One day every one of us will stand before a Holy God and give an account of what we did with Jesus and the way we lived our lives. I don’t know about you but I don’t want Him to look at me with sadness because I didn’t love others unconditionally.
Will He look at you with sadness in His eyes because you didn’t love others as He wanted you to love them? May God have mercy on us and forgive us if we do not love unconditionally as we have been commanded to love. Are you hurting Him and breaking His heart because you are being disobedient to Him?
