In the last year we have witnessed terrible tragedies in our world.
Earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, hurricanes, mud slides, fires,
floods, and avalanches.
Last month there was a horrible 7.0 Earthquake in Haiti. This morning
an 8.8 earthquake rocked the world of the people of Chile.
The blood shed by war, violence, incest, child abuse, rape, and abortion
have become an everyday occurrence on the news.
We don’t want to be afraid, but sometimes we are. In those times,
we need to seek comfort and counsel from the word of God.
In Matthew 10… Jesus assured us… not one sparrow falls
to the ground apart from your Father’s will.
We are far more valuable to him than a sparrow.
God loves his children so much, he even knows how many hairs we have on our head.
He knows each one of us by name. His thoughts toward us are more than the sands
upon the seashore.
He loved us so much that he sent Jesus, his son to die on the cross, and pay the
penalty for our sins. He rose on the third day, overpowering death and
ascended to heaven to make a beautiful place for us to live with him one day.
In our heavenly home there will be no more hate, violence, prejudice, or seas
to divide us.
God’s word is the only thing that can bring comfort and peace back into our lives.
Instead of dwelling on the horror, we must focus on God’s love.
He is called the God of all comfort. He can comfort us, because
he had to watch his son be crucified for our sins.
Jesus was innocent and free from sin, yet he had to bear
the injustice of an evil and cruel death.
Tragedy has a way of uniting God’s people in prayer and faith.
It should make us turn from evil and seek good. We must be more
determined than ever to spread the Gospel and share the love of
Jesus with others.
God allows tragedies, because of the sinfulness of mankind.
We often get caught up in our own little world and lose sight of why
we were created. To give God glory and be his witnesses.
Jesus warned us that in the end times we would have wars and rumors of wars.
There would be earthquakes, floods, and famine in our world.
We have an enormous amount of technology in our hands each day to help us
keep connected to others around the globe, but I ask you…How many souls
are you reaching for Jesus?
We tweet about what we’re eating, our clothes, and various other non-important
topics.
We tend to worry more about how many friends we have on facebook, than how many
faces will be with us one day in heaven.
Beloved, God loves you and created you in his image.
You are his beautiful child and he asks you to help others know about his love, mercy, and forgiveness.
Our heavenly Father alone, holds the power to heal and help us.
We need to tell our children this every day!!!
King David went through many trials and struggles in life and wrote…
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God I have put my trust.
I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? Psalm 56:3-4
Because of the recent earthquake, many area around the globe are issuing
tsunami warnings.
Today you have a choice on how to spend your time.
Please reach out to the lost, before it’s too late.
Beloved today you may have just lost your home, health, or members of your family.
You may be out of work, depressed, or suicidal.
God sent me to tell you how much he loves you.
Call upon him in your day of trouble.
He will deliver you and help you, if you only ask.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this gift of this beautiful day and for the pure white snow
to blanket our land and cleanse it. Forgive us for we have sinned against
You in thought, word and deed. We have neglected to praise and
worship you as we should.
We invite You to come into our hearts and homes, our schools, churches, and government.
Lead and guide us according to Your will. We ask for Your protection for us and all
our troops. Thank you for the freedom to worship. Help and comfort all
who are suffering persecution for their faith.
We submit our lives to You alone…and ask You to turn the hearts of all leaders in
the world to accept Jesus as their Saviour and pray publicly in Your name.
Cast out the spirit of greed, commercialism, and pride in our homes and churches.
Dissolve the spirit of dread and uncertainty, fear and hate. Ignite a spirit of compassion
and love in our hearts, that will fill our world with a fire and fervor, to overcome the
evil forces in our world.
Through You we shall do valiantly, for You alone hold the power to deliver us from
all our enemies. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but one of FAITH.
Help us O, LORD, have mercy on us. Come quickly to save and redeem Your
children from the powers of darkness.
We thank You for a Christian president to lead us. One who is not
ashamed to share his faith and put his trust in You to lead him.
Please restore prayer to our schools, and help us to stop all crimes of violence,
hate, abuse, neglect, and abortion. Thank You for the freedom to express our faith
in You and for the right to choose to be a godly nation and world. May we choose life,
from this moment on and in the New Year.
Father, please bring help and aid to our brothers and sisters in Chile and Haiti, who
are suffering and in pain from the recent earthquakes.
Wrap your loving arms around them and give them comfort, strength, and peace.
Please calm the storm and protect your children from harm and adversity.
Thank you LORD for always answering our prayers in your good and perfect way,
and abundantly providing for all our needs.
In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen
THE SHADOW OF GOD’S WINGS
In the shadow of God’s wings, I hide.
From evil lurking right outside.
A refuge holding me so tight.
Protecting me with all his might.
The storms and trials that Satan brings…
Are overcome, as my heart sings…
Joyful songs of praise to him.
He gives me strength and hope within.
Just like a dove, with wings I’ll fly.
And be at rest, for God is why…
Sin cannot deprive me of…
Assurance of my Father’s love.
Fear and death can’t overcome.
The victory through Christ, I’ve won.
God’s word is faithful, tried and true.
In every test, he’ll guide me through.
God be merciful to us and bless us. And cause His face to shine upon us.
That Your way may be known on earth. Your salvation among all nations.
Let the peoples praise You, O God; Then the earth shall yield her increase;
God, our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us. And all the ends of
the earth shall fear Him. Psalm 67:5-7
Your sister and servant of the LORD,
