Where’s your treasure?

Around the world, many countries and people are suffering from poverty, debt, or
the mismanagement of money.

Money in itself is not evil, because we need it to pay our bills, buy food, and support our families.

But…the Apostle Paul and Jesus warned God’s people not to covet the riches of this world.

God often blesses us with earthly riches because he loves us, but
does not want us to allow money or things to become an idol over him.

The Apostle Paul wrote…

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded,
nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,
who giveth us richly all things to enjoy. 2 Timothy 6:17

One day Jesus was teaching his disciples and told this story.

There was a rich man whose land produced bountiful crops.

Instead of being thankful for his abundance and sharing with others,
he began to worry about where he would store all of his vast wealth.

He thought, I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones to hold
all my fruits and goods. When I am finished, I can eat, drink,
and spend the rest of my life in ease.

God said to the man, You are a fool, for this night I will take your
soul, and then who will all your wealth and possessions belong to?

So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Luke 12:21

None of us know the hour which the LORD will come to take us home.
Jesus said, he will come at an unexpected time, like a thief in the night.

If the rich man would have known he would die that night, he wouldn’t have
spent his last hours worrying about building new barns and retirement.

In recent months we’ve seen homes and lives destroyed in a matter of moments.

Our #1 priority must be our eternal salvation and doing the work that
God has commanded us. Our Father knows what our needs are better
than we do.

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:31-32

God wants us to enter into his rest and cease from worrying, but
he never said we should cease from working.

Jesus said, Blessed are those servants whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching:
verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat,
and will come forth and serve them. Luke 12:37

Peter asked Jesus, are you telling this story for our benefit alone or for all?

Jesus explained that those servants who know what the Father’s wishes are and do
them, will be rewarded and made ruler over many things.

If a servant ignores his Father’s wishes and begins to spend his days in drunken
partying or mistreating others, God will come for this servant when he least
expects it.

Those servants who ignored Jesus’ warnings will be beaten with many stripes.

The servant who had never heard teaching about stewardship, will be beaten
with a few stripes.

For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required:
and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
Luke 12:48

God blesses us, so we can use the abundance to be a blessing to others.

The Apostle Paul instructed Timothy and the church…

That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute,
willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation
against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
2 Timothy 6:18-19

Jesus said,

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Luke 12:34

Where is your treasure?

In earthly wealth, your smart phone, fame, or pleasure…

or are you wisely building your spiritual house for eternity?

God loved YOU!!! so much, he sent Jesus to die on the cross for your sins
and the sins of the whole world.

He wants none to perish, but all to be with him in his heavenly kingdom.

Where will you be, if tomorrow never comes?

I pray you will open the door of your heart and let Jesus
become your LORD and Saviour.

If we say that we have no sins, we deceive ourselves and the truth is
not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9

He promises to forgive us and remember our sins no more.

It’s a free gift!

It’s yours for the asking!!!

Make your reservation for heaven today!!!

Merciful Father in heaven,

I acknowledge that I am a sinner.

I bow humbly before your throne of grace and ask you to forgive my sins.

Cleanse me from the guilt within, and cover me with the robe of righteousness

purchased with the blood of your precious Son, Jesus.

LORD, Jesus come into my heart. I make you my LORD and Saviour.

Revive and strengthen my parched soul with your living word to make me whole.

You understand my thoughts and ways. Direct my heart and tongue today.

Season my words with salt so pure. Let all the evil in me be cured.

Order my steps and light my path. Your word will be my road map.

At each crossroad prompt my feet, to follow the straight and narrow path.

Help me not to loose my way or be detracted by temptation or evil.

Heaven is my destiny. Let your example always be…

A guiding light to lead the way.

To reach the throne, to kneel and pray.

I offer to you my life as a living sacrifice.

Shine through me, to give you glory

and win souls for the kingdom.

In Jesus’ blessed name we pray…

For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them Luke 9:56

Live in peace, and the God of love and peace shall be with you!

Your sister and servant of the LORD,

Valerie Rousseau
